Katie Varney

Senior Communications Specialist

Katie has over 15 years of experience in the not-for-profit and public sectors. She has been responsible for designing and delivering public programs, outreach projects, communication campaigns, festivals and events in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto.

At her core, Katie is a community-builder. She is resourceful, creative and versatile. Her natural curiosity coupled with her background in production and graphic design help her create effective communication materials, immersive events and visual collateral that exceed client expectations.

Prior to joining Ideaspace, Katie was the Manager of Community Cultural Development for the City of Richmond, where she oversaw public events, community engagement, cultural programming and a municipal grant program.

She holds a Masters in Communications and Cultural Studies from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ryerson University's School of Image Arts.
