Brewing a New Bylaw

Reducing the environmental impact of small fermentation operations by preventing spent grains, fruit, and yeast from entering Metro Vancouver’s wastewater system.

Metro Vancouver Fermentation Operations Bylaw

Diana collaborated with Metro Vancouver to design and implement a consultation program involving workshops, interviews, and small group meetings with brewers, vintners, and distillers. She created clear communications materials, including a fact sheet and web content, and developed a Bylaw Implementation Guide and reporting form to support compliance.

The new bylaw reflects industry feedback, ensures smooth implementation, and helps protect Metro Vancouver’s wastewater system and the environment from unnecessary strain.
