Creating Culturally Inclusive Housing Solutions

1015 E. Hastings

Creating culturally inclusive housing solutions for all ages at 1015 E Hastings St. to address homelessness and housing insecurity in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

Ideaspace developed a communications and engagement strategy emphasizing cultural sensitivity and community connection. This included crafting clear public materials, managing outreach, and hosting a stakeholder session at the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre. Despite COVID-19 constraints canceling an in-person open house, feedback was gathered through an online platform to ensure community voices informed the project.

The project combines shelter, rental housing, and social enterprise space, fostering inclusivity and addressing critical housing needs while honouring the cultural and community context of the Downtown Eastside.
